EARTH IS THE ONLY OPTION -AFTER ALL, WE DON’T HAVE A PLAN B

So. in an effort to save the planet. when law and policy makers. academicians. civil society members. officials from line departments/ministries. students and other stakeholders gather annually at the Northeast Green Summit, serious business in the realm of environment and sustainable development in Northeast India happens.

It’s a privilege for all of us at the Advisory Board to be able to be a part of the Summit. the only such initiative in the region.

As a parliamentarian. the Northeast Green Summit 2019 – and the various issues discussed as part of it – was an eye-opener as to whether we are making laws just to make them redundant in the pages of history or are we eager to take them and implement them with people’s participation?

A highlight of the Summit. ever since its inception. is that it celebrates nature in all its forms – yes. even through art and music. So. amongst other activities. we had an art workshop with some of the best artists in India converging at the Summit and painting on nature. Partners like Lalit Kala Akademi and Kokuyo Camlin gave us their able support.

With more and more involvement of the civil societies and stakeholders at every summit, I am sure that this Summit will be able to address all the environmental and sustainable development issues the region is facing. now and in times to come.

Jai Hind!
