Besides various other Technical Sessions, a Technical Session on “RESPONSIBLE TOURISM IN NORTHEAST: CHARTING THE FUTURE” was organized as part of the Northeast Green Summit , where the Chair of the session, Rashmi Verma, Former Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, underlined the potential of the tourism sector to contribute to economic growth of the region. Drawing attention to the fact that tourism in this region would essentially rely on the natural geography and biodiversity of the region, she opined that local community participation would need to be guaranteed. Local community participation would ensure value addition by providing an authentic experience to the tourists. Smt. Anjuna Dhir from the Responsible Tourism Society of India, co-chaired the session. Other panel members were Shri Rakesh Mathur, Executive Board Member, Indian Heritage Hotels Association; Shri. Debo Kumar Mishra, Director, Assam Tourism; Shri. Banlum Blah, President, North East India Tourism Confederation (NEITC); and Ms. Gurleen Kaur, Senior Vice President, Tourism and Allied Infrastructure, Bengalaru, Karnataka.

A seminar on “BIOTECHNOLOGY INTERVENTIONS ON SUSTAINABLE

DEVELOPMENT AND UTILIZATION OF BIORESOURCES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND LIVELIHOOD GENERATIONS IN THE NORTHEAST REGION” was organized as part of the Northeast Green Summit, aiming to find ways to nurture and maintain the bio resources of NE along with income generation from the same.

Vibgyor N.E. Foundation organized a theatre, on the theme Clean & Green Northeast, headed by NSD alumni Pabitra Rabha with his dwarf theatre group, Dapon-The Mirror.
